About
Founded in 1951
Founded in 1951, St. Andrew’s Orthodox Valiyapally, Secunderabad, is a historic and spiritually significant parish of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, uniquely dedicated to St. Andrew the Apostle, the “First Called” disciple of Christ. Originally housed in a church built in 1850 by the Church of Scotland, the parish formally began its Orthodox journey in 1948 when the Syrian Christian community took possession of the church premises.
Over the decades, the parish grew steadily, overcoming challenges with faith and unity, leading to the construction of its present majestic Kerala-style church, consecrated in 2005. Today, as one of the largest Orthodox parishes in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, St. Andrew’s Valiyapally stands as a beacon of worship, heritage, and service, nurturing generations through its vibrant spiritual, educational, and charitable ministries.
St. Andrew’s Orthodox Valiyapally, located in the heart of Secunderabad–Hyderabad, has been a spiritual home for generations of faithful, especially students, professionals, and families living and working in the city’s main hub. With its central location and vibrant parish life, the church continues to serve as a place of worship, fellowship, and spiritual growth for members from across Hyderabad, including those pursuing education and careers, making it a dynamic center of Orthodox faith and community life.
